Do The “SANTA” Hustle
As the most wonderful time of the year approaches, many of us are dusting off our nativity scenes, tree skirts, and décor as we prepare to bring laughter, warmth, and cheer to some otherwise cold and colorless nights.
While some are assembling Christmas tree, others are lacing up their magic sneakers as they condition themselves for the up-and-coming Santa Hustle.
When:
On Sunday, December 12th, don’t be alarmed if you find yourself surrounded by thousands dressed in Santa Swag, parading around in full Mr. and Mrs. Clause attire.
While the race alone could be enough to bring thousands of participants ready and willing to “pay-to-play”, is it possible there’s a purpose that makes this meet so magical? According to santahustle.com: The Official 2021 Santa Hustle ® Smokies Charity is House of Hope.
Why:
“HAITI IS HOME TO 750,000 ORPHANS. MANY OF THEM ACTUALLY HAVE LIVING PARENTS. FORCED BY POVERTY, PARENTS GIVE UP THEIR RIGHTS IN HOPES THEIR CHILD WILL RECEIVE FOOD, SHELTER AND EDUCATION.
We founded House of Hope to provide food and shelter for orphaned children. But in Haiti, orphans are a symptom of a poverty-stricken country, not a lack of love. That’s why we are committed to furthering education, community development, and women’s empowerment to empower and equip families”.
Though it may be in the spirit of Christmas: it’s an opportunity to give, that keeps people coming back year after year, ready to run at 7am. On the other hand, there may be those who run this yearly race for the cookies, the chocolates, and the chance to run side-by-side friends and family adorning Christmas gear to Christmas music and a Smoky Mountain Backdrop!
Where:
With so many things to enjoy about the Santa Hustle, it’s one event that launches this time of year into magic for Smoky Mountain locals and guests alike. What’s more: you don’t have to run to participate. You can volunteer instead. After all, somebody has to pass out the cookies!
For more information on how to register, any restrictions, where to get your gear, and other ways to participate check out www.santahustlesmokies.com or https://santahustle.com/smokies/contact/.
