If you’re visiting Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, or even the Smoky Mountains in general for Christmas you’re bound to have a wonderful time!  Whether you see the lights and attractions at Dollywood, drive the streets or take a trolley tour of the Winterfest lights, or even just enjoying some time unplugged in a gorgeous Smoky Mountain cabin for the holiday, there’s something for everyone!  While your cabin has a fully equipped kitchen ready for your family, cooking might not be your idea of a vacation.  Even though it’s a holiday, there are still places ready and open for business in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville.  Check out our compiled list of restaurants open for Christmas!  Of course, always call ahead and double check before heading out for a meal.

Keeping Little Ones Occupied

Holidays mean long car rides or long waits at a restaurant.  If you need something to keep your little ones (or even not so little ones!) busy during the wait, check out this cute Winter word search with some coloring options as well courtesy of Artsy Fartsy Mama:

Want to cook instead?

While all our cabins come with fully equipped kitchens, you’ll definitely want to be prepared for a feast if you’re planning to eat in.  While cabin kitchens are fully equipped, these vacation homes are just that – rentals to make you and your family comfortable.  If you know there are specialty items you need to make your meal complete, we encourage you to bring them from home for a hassle-free holiday.  American Patriot Getaways always supplies a starter pack of paper goods, trash bags, and dish soap, but if you have a large group or plan to do a lot of cooking, it’s never a bad idea to bring your own, too! Some items you might want to bring from home include:

  • An electric pressure cooker or slow cooker
  • Hand mixer
  • Sharp kitchen knives and cutting board
  • A set of serving utensils
  • Disposable or compostable utensils
  • Disposable or compostable plates and cups
  • Paper napkins and paper towels
  • Extra trash bags
  • Extra dish sponges
  • Dish washing detergent
  • Dishwasher tablets (if your cabin is equipped with a dishwasher)

Our cabins do not come stocked with food, cooking spices, or oils.  Make sure you bring all your favorite spice blends, salt & pepper, coffee & filters, Keurig cups (if your cabin is equipped), cooking oils, and condiments to accompany your gourmet meal.  We also have a variety of grocery stores in the area in case you’ve forgotten your favorites.
