Get in the Christmas spirit at Dollywood – whether you visit Thanksgiving Day or anytime in from Nov. 9 to Jan. 4 – Dollywood has transformed from fall to winter and is full of Christmas Jo – and lights! During the Christmas Festival, “the park boasts an impressive count of more than five million brilliant lights, heartwarming Christmas entertainment, delicious holiday meals and the fun of Dollywood at Christmas.

Wonder, Harmony, Family, Joy and Faith are Dollywood’s Christmas themes – from award-winning shows to decorations and treats to the lights and a new attraction at the Grove. Dollywood is transformed – and there is so much to see and do!

Head to Wildwood Grove for the newest Christmas attraction at the newest Dollywood experience!

Wildwood Grove is home to a friendly ensemble of woodland creatures. Flit, Flutter, and Benjamin Bear love to welcome guests. The Grove is part of Glacier Ridge (presented by Goo Goo Cluster®). It opened this year. Glacier Ridge is truly a winter wonderland that includes the areas of the park known as Timber Canyon, Wildwood Grove, Wilderness Pass and the upper portion of Craftsman’s Valley.

Guests visiting Glacier Ridge may feel as if the Smokies have frozen over, and they’ve been transported to the arctic. The Plaza at Wilderness Pass includes a 50 ft.-tall animated tree that anchors the area. Every 30 minutes the Plaza sparkles to life, presenting a fully synchronized, dazzling light show with holiday hits – singing along is highly encouraged.

 

For those entering from Timber Canyon, the Arctic Passage, a 130-ft. long programmable light tunnel, transports them into Glacier Ridge in a stunning array of light and color. Once emerging from the tunnel, you are are greeted by polar bears who have made a home at Drop Line Bay.

Those getting to Glacier Ridge through Craftsman’s Valley experience a one-of-a-kind light installation that mimics the natural phenomenon known as the aurora borealis. Guests can walk through Dollywood’s version of the Northern Lights, brought to life with music as only Dolly can do – you’ll feel as if the aurora borealis has come south.

That’s a highlight for the season for sure – but there is much more at Dollywood for Christmas.

Harmony
Celebrate the sounds of the season with award-winning holiday musical productions including live performances of It’s a Wonderful Life and Dollywood’s own Christmas in the Smokies – one of its greatest traditions – that celebrates the joy of the season while a cast of 14 singer/dancers perform hometown holiday favorites accompanied by a band of eight live musicians.

Family

Christmas is a time of fellowship, friends and family togetherness. Dollywood makes for a perfect setting for family memories. With Christmas Classics including Rudolph and Friends, Santa and more.

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas – a classic family tale is told about the family that finds its own Christmas miracle and with the help of a mysterious, white-bearded stranger.

Joy

“Grab a mug of hot chocolate, marvel in over five-million lights and gather your family for the Parade of Many Colors. This exciting holiday tradition featuring vibrant floats, interactive characters and a number of other surprises is sure to delight all.”

The Parade of Many Colors – a play on Dolly Parton’s famous song A Coat of Many Colors – begins nightly at 8:15 on operating days. The Parade of Many Colors includes vibrant floats, interactive characters and a number of other surprises sure to inspire guests with its heart-warming message.

How about some Christmas treats to make you smile – there are plenty throughout the park including award-winning seasonal specialties. Indulge in a classic southern meal at Aunt Granny’s Restaurant, Cinnamon bread at the Grist Mill or try a fresh take on the season at Front Porch Café.

Faith

It’s not the season without faith, right? The reason for the season.

Inspirational events include Smoky Mountain Christmas Chapel – step inside an authentic country church complete with wooden pews and hardwood floors for a Christmas service each Sunday at 5:30 p.m.

Celebrate Christmas with The Kingdom Heirs – celebrate a Southern Gospel Christmas as the Kingdom Heirs keep your spirits high with your favorite Christmas hymns and songs.

O’ Holy Night – A little girl looks for an angel; three shepherds follow a star.

A season pass purchased during Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas provides unlimited admission to this year’s Christmas festival along with unlimited admission for Dollywood’s entire 2020 season. Guests may purchase 2020 season passes online now or upgrade a paid one-day admission ticket on the day of visit. Ticket purchasers receive credit for the value of a regular one-day ticket toward the purchase of a 2020 season pass.

A Thanksgiving Spread on a table

Dollywood is open 4p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving – Thursday, Nov. 28; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Friday and Saturday and Sunday after. The park is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It is open on New Year’s Day.

Another exciting event happening this holiday season is the premier of Smoky Mountain hometown hero Dolly Parton’s Netflix movies. Each movie will be based on one of her hit songs in an 8-part series called Heartstrings. Dolly Parton will appear in select episodes of the new anthology show. The first season of Dolly’s series is expected to premiere on Netflix on November 22.

Dollywood celebrates its 35th anniversary season next year with the new Flower & Food Festival, the return of the Gazillion Bubbles Show, and a calendar full of fantastic festivals and entertainment. You can book tickets and your cabin now – for the holidays and beyond.
