The Hollywood Wax Museum was located on the parkway in downtown Gatlinburg but closed in 2010. The new and improved Hollywood Wax Museum is set to re-open in an all new location in Pigeon Forge at traffic light #1 in the spring of 2012. The new and improved wax museum will be in the building the Dinosaur Walk Museum previously occupied. This will be a huge upgrade for the Smokies only wax museum. With an incredible $15 million investment, the attraction will be moving into 30,000 square feet, three story building.
The inside of the museum will be set up like the previous Gatlinburg museum. Guests will be able to view replicas of famous movie scenes and even pose for pictures in some of the scenes. Props are provided to make it even more fun! Imagine you pumping iron with Hollywood heavyweights, taking the stage with singing superstars, or even posing for the paparazzi at a movie premiere.
The exterior of the building will certainly add some interesting architecture to the Pigeon Forge strip as it did to Branson, Missouri. Similar to the Branson location which opened in 1996, the new wax museum will feature a model of the New York skyline where King Kong is scaling one of the many sky scrapers, if you remember King Kong was an eye catcher at the Gatlinburg location.
You will also see a replica of the iconic “Hollywood” sign and a Hollywood twist on Mount Rushmore with the faces of Hollywood legends John Wayne, Elvis Presley, Judy Garland and Charlie Chaplin. The Hollywood Sign and the addition of the Chrysler Building will be functional as well as eye catching. Guests will be able to ride to the top of the tower for a panoramic view and the design incorporates scenes from movies where the building was featured. A unique feature of the Hollywood Sign will serve as windows in the Hollywood Events Room.
