New Restaurants In The Smokies

Are you tired of going to the same restaurants in the Smokies, and looking for a couple new places to try?  We have some suggestions for you. From brunch to dinner, there’s something new and different or coming soon. Here’s our top 5.

Smith & Son Corner Kitchen

a classic hamburger at BurgerMaster in Townsend

Smith & Son ’s Corner Kitchen is located on the Gatlinburg Strip – on the corner of course! This two-story building offers spectacular views and great people watching. The tagline here is “where southern food meets smoky mountain flavor.” And that it does.

When thinking of restaurants in the Smokies, there’s nothing more southern than fried okra, and Smith & Son’s has it. Rolled in seasoned corn meal and fried crispy, the okra is served with a chipotle ranch.

Street tacos are made with smoked beef brisket – yum!

Also on the menu are a country fried chicken dinner; chicken wings of course; burgers and dogs of all kinds including the Mama Bear Burger – two fresh patties, shaved roast beef, grilled onions, swiss cheese mushrooms served on a grilled Brioche bun. There’s a class Reuben on the menu, along with The Rocky Top Rachel, which has turkey instead of roast beef. There’s pulled pork and smoked beef brisket.

Entrees include slow-cooked ribs, smoked meatloaf, delta catfish, and a slow-smoked yard bird – half a chicken cooked low and slow in Smith and Son’s dry rub.

Room For Dessert

Thinking about dessert? There’s good ol’ southern banana pudding, decadent chocolate cake and a cheesecake of the day.

One visitor wrote on Trip Advisor: “Went to Smith & Son Corner Kitchen making a quick decision as we were walking by talking about dinner. We looked at the menu on the wall outside and couldn’t pass it by. So glad we didn’t because the food was absolutely amazing. Our waiter Alec, was so nice and very knowledgeable about all the most tasty items on the menu. The Cherry Limeade (adult beverage) was the best ever! I would highly recommend eating at Smith & Son Corner Kitchen and ask for Alec, he’s the best!!”

Smith and Son also is known for its one-of-a-kind cocktails. “For a spin on a classic Old Fashioned, try the Blacksmith Featured Cocktail with Basil Hayden Bourbon, dark brown sugar simple syrup, cranberry bitters and black cherries. If you want to sample some Ole Smoky Moonshine, try the Moonshine Mule or Hillbilly Hurricane. Visitors also love the Miss Kennedy and Sunday Funday.”

Located right outside our restaurant is the “Standing Strong” mural, painted by local artist Pinkie Mistry. The mural depicts a beautiful scene of a black bear in the Smoky Mountains and makes a great social media pic.

Smith & Son is operated by local restaurant group KBS Restaurant Group, which also owns Holston’s and Crocket’s Fish Camp, which have been popular destinations for many years.

812 Parkway Ste 105 at Stoplight No. 8, Gatlinburg, (865) 430-1978 or (865) 436-8878.

Greenbriar

Another newish of KBS restaurants in the Smokies is Greenbriar – a fine dining steakhouse and fine drinking establishment.

Unique cocktail

Greenbriar specialize in hand-cut prime steaks, fresh produce, house specialties, and craft cocktails. The restaurant has a unique in-house dry-aging process for its hand-cut steaks. Also on the menu, are oysters and baked meatball appetizers; mains that include citrus-brined and sous vide chicken, duck breast, stuffed flounder, bone-in ribeye, New York strip steak, domestic lamb shank and a porterhouse pork chop.

Like every good steakhouse, the sides are as important as the mains, and Greenbriar doesn’t disappoint with twice-bake potatoes, pommes frites, herb-smashed potatoes, asparagus, wedge salad and more. Want a cocktail to go with your dinner? Greenbriar has pages of whiskeys and bourbons, craft cocktails, an extensive wine list and lots of other spirts and beers.

Greenbrier Whiskey Society offers exclusive opportunities to taste the most sought after whiskeys and bourbons. Each month Greenbrier Restaurant hosts a gathering of the Whiskey Society offering top-shelf selections and legacy brands. 370 Newman Road, Gatlinburg, 865-412-1576.

Ristorante Della Santina

Ristorante Della Santina, another fine-dining restaurant, located in Sevierville. Here, Italian cuisine

The DellaSantina Family has been providing excellent food and services since 1420 in Verona, Italy. With only the finest ingredients that are organic whenever possible and seafood flown in fresh daily, Ristorante Della Santina is a favorite of locals. My sister Summer and her husband Brad make it a special date night spot.

Get the mussels or clams in your choice of red or white sauce; focaccia, bruschetta, Gianfranco – tomatoes, garlic, cucumbers, red onions and kalamata olives. Entrees range from pasta Bolognese, chicken and eggplant parmesan, lasagna, scallops with angel hair pasta. There are also lamb chops and a filet mignon dinner served with 4 lightly breaded shrimp and a side of pasta. Chesapeake’s Seafood and Raw Bar

Serving brunch, lunch and dinner, this new Gatlinburg restaurant has quickly become a favorite of visitors. With two locations in Knoxville, Chesapeake’s already has a reputation in the area for its excellent and fresh food, seaside ambiance and authentic Eastern Shore décor with nautical antiques and artifacts.

Seafood

Of our restaurants in the Smokies, part of the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants, Chesapeake’s offers fresh seafood that’s flown in daily, local, handcrafted microbrews, and USDA choice and prime-graded beef. Our commissary supports 20 restaurants and 4 event facilities across East Tennessee and provides unique access to a federally inspected butcher shop, bakery, and processing facility.

Try the smoked trout, made with a favorite local fish. Appetizers also include smoked salmon and fresh Maryland crab cakes. Seafood platters – fried or boiled are on the menu, along with a spicy spinach mac & cheese – because we like our mac & cheese in the south and we like our spice. There also are bacon and cheddar cheese grits and succotash as sides.

Seafood Dinner

For dinner, diners can get a 1.5 pound live main lobster and a seafood feast that includes the lobster, mussels, Maryland spiced shrimp, clams, oysters. Oysters of the day 01.jpg

September visitors who wrote on Trip Advisor called Chesapeake’s an “unexpected gem.” One reviewer wrote “Did not expect such good seafood in a mountain town. Excellent crab dishes. Large, fresh lobsters. Go early, go often for a taste of the ocean.”

Another wrote: “Wow!!! Amazing food… AWESOME waiter!! Service was outstanding!! We heard about this place from a girl named Cheyenne who works there that we met at another stop and we weren’t disappointed… nobody could hardly move after all we ate… will def go back!! If you go, save room for dessert. Choose from Keylime pie, cheesecake, banana pudding and orange sherbet, all located at 437 Parkway, Gatlinburg, (865) 622-6999
