Are you headed to Tennessee for a honeymoon in Gatlinburg? Wondering exactly what to do when you get there?

Over 11 million people visited the Great Smoky Mountains National Park last year. To be sure, there are many fun activities to enjoy in the Smoky Mountains.

But activities and beautiful scenery aren’t limited to the national park. There are plenty of things to do in Gatlinburg, too–especially for a pair of newlyweds!

Whether you’re visiting in the summer, fall, winter, or spring, Gatlinburg has something for you. Here’s our pick of the 9 best (and most romantic) things to do in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

1. Explore the Park

We assume one of your reasons for choosing Gatlinburg is its easy access to the Smoky Mountains. The fall colors in the park are spectacular, but every season has something to offer.

During a scenic hike, drive, or bike ride, you’ll have the chance to see deer, elk, black bears, and other local wildlife. With more than 150 trails to explore, there’s plenty to see!

Depending on the time of year, you might also have the option to go camping, horseback riding, or fishing. And what could be more romantic than a picnic lunch by a beautiful waterfall?

2. Do It All at Ober for your honeymoon in Gatlinburg

If you’ve ever wondered what a mountaintop amusement park is like, be sure to head up to Ober Mountain to find out.

Enjoy the views from the scenic chairlift and laugh as you speed down the alpine slide. In the summer, you’ll love the water slides, carnival rides, and mini golf.

In the winter, skiers and snowboarders can try out the snow-covered slopes and terrain park. There’s also an indoor ice skating rink where you can skate 365 days a year.

3. Get a Bird’s Eye View from the Space Needle

That’s right–you don’t have to go all the way to Seattle for a Space Needle. Gatlinburg has one too that rises 407 feet above the city.

Ride a glass elevator to the top to enjoy 360-degree views of the Smoky Mountains. On a clear day, you can catch a glimpse of the famous Mt. LeConte!

4. Wine Tasting Along the Rocky Top Wine Trail

Do you and your significant other enjoy good wine?

If so, you’ll love exploring the five local wineries that make up the Rocky Top Wine Trail. With more than 70 unique wine to try, you can easily make a day (or several days) out of the trail.

Best of all–it’s free! Simply pick up your “passport” at the first winery you visit and collect stamps from each additional winery. If you visit all five, you’ll receive a souvenir wine glass and other gifts.

5. Sample Local Moonshine and Brew

What if you’re more interested in beer and liquor than fine wines? That’s okay too.

Head over to the distillery at Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine. Here you’ll find dozens of locally made whiskeys and authentic moonshines. Enjoy some free samples and then take home a bottle of your favorite.

To try some local brews, add Smoky Mountain Brewery to your list. In addition to great daily drink specials, they also feature three handcrafted beers that are microbrewed on site.

6.Take a Scenic Helicopter Ride

Want a truly unforgettable honeymoon experience? Book yourself and your loved one two seats on a scenic helicopter ride high above the Smoky Mountains.

Unlike similar tours in other areas, which cost hundreds of dollars, you can enjoy a helicopter tour in Tennessee for as a little as $25. Choose from winding rivers, scenic lakes, mountain ridges, or a grand tour of the national park.

Have you never been in a helicopter before? You can even try a short “sample” ride around the heliport before you commit to a longer tour.Tour the Luxurious Biltmore Estate

7. Indulge Yourself at a Day Spa

After all the hiking and touring, you’re probably ready to slow down and unwind. After all, a honeymoon is supposed to be relaxing, right?

There are dozens of spas to choose from in and around Gatlinburg. Our favorite is the Fox Place Day Spa in Gatlinburg. Offering couples massages, facials, body wraps, foot treatments, and more!

8. Cuddle up in Your Cabin

As you can see, there’s no shortage of great activities to do in and around Gatlinburg. No doubt you and your new spouse will enjoy touring the local area and experiencing some of these sights for yourselves.

But it is your honeymoon, after all–and that should also mean plenty of alone time. This is why you can’t beat the privacy and seclusion of a romantic honeymoon cabin.

Imagine coming “home” after a long day of sightseeing to a luxurious log cabin with a cozy fireplace. Relax with a glass of wine on the patio or in the hot tub and enjoy your uninterrupted view of the mountains.

This scene is what makes Gatlinburg the honeymoon capital of the east!

At any time of year, there’s no shortage of things to do in Gatlinburg. From hiking to skiing to sipping moonshine, your honeymoon in Gatlinburg will be full of memories you’ll cherish forever.

Now that you’ve got your activities planned out, the only thing left to do is decide where you’ll stay.
